intWave runs a unique internship program that prepares students for work in the field of Cybersecurity while providing them with the chance to perform research in Embedded Systems Security, Application Security or Cloud Security topics. Research results will make it to public advisories and/or conference presentations. Also, any tooling developed during the internship will be published as open source software or open hardware projects.
The internship program is implemented in four phases:
Phase 1 – The intern receives training in software security fundamentals and security assessment procedures. This phase focuses on security topics that are relevant in embedded systems software, network services and desktop software.
Phase 2 – The intern receives training in web application security topics. Through this training, the intern will learn how to perform security testing to remote web applications.
Phase 3 – The intern is assigned a research task on a selected topic. Under the guidance of intWave experts, the intern will perform research activities to identify vulnerabilities in the target component and report findings to the upstream project.
Phase 4 – Based on the research findings, the intern will prepare support material for public advisory and/or conference presentation purposes.
The work will be conducted remotely, with occasional meetings in Athens for team coordination and socialization activities. The internship will typically run for four months, but shorter / longer periods are possible in order to meet university program requirements.
